Jay Breda

Jay is a ceramic artist and has been making pottery since 2019. He studied at Mass College of Art and earned a degree from UMass Boston in Fine Arts. Jay worked as a professional photographer in his Dad’s studio for about 15 years. He’s been making various wood carvings and custom (bespoke) fountain pens and sterling silver rings for over a decade.

When COVID started he needed a new challenge, and decided to take his ceramic skills to a whole new level. Up until then he had been sculpting with Daniel Meyers in Quincy and Scott Land in Las Vegas creating marionettes and casting them into resin. An opportunity arose to create wheel thrown pottery as a student at The Clay School at the Lydia Pinkham building in Lynn which led to eventually purchasing a wheel and kiln of his own. Jay tries to source raw materials from local suppliers as much as possible. He can proudly say that his work is truly Made in Melrose!
